Disassembly is part of the Character Development system, letting you dismantle weapons and armour back into materials. Each disassembly yields materials, crafting experience, and a chance to learn the item's recipe — one of several ways to acquire recipes. Progression on the tree starts at the bottom, with grey Tier 1 items.
To disassemble an item, right-click it and choose "Disassemble", or hold Alt + left-click.
Disassembly is blocked if your disassembly level isn't high enough — text on the item tells you whether the recipe can be learned. A "Critical Success" message means you've learned the recipe; you may need to relog to see it in your crafting list.
Disassembly progression
Start with grey Tier 1 items at the bottom of the tree. Once that node is fully unlocked you can progress onto green Tier 2 weapons and Tier 2 armour. After that point, progressing the ranks horizontally yields more materials per item disassembled, while progressing vertically unlocks the disassembly of higher-tier items.

- Higher-durability items return more salvaged resources than low-durability ones.
- Higher-quality items return more salvaged resources than low-quality ones.
- The only way to get a 100% material return is disassembling full-durability +7 gear — anything else loses some materials.
- Disassembly gives significant crafting XP: armour gives Armoursmithing XP, weapons give Weapon Forging XP, and so on.
Other notes
- Learning a recipe this way is chance-based. A high crafting level and around 500 Mentor Points significantly boost your odds — but even then, expect to disassemble many copies before learning a given recipe.
- The primary salvage is various fabric, leather and metal scraps, which can be reconstituted into fabric canvases and metal bars.
- A Critical Success yields 10× the XP and guarantees you learn the item's recipe if you don't already have it. Critical Successes can still happen after you've learned it.
