Mounted Archery

Shooting from the saddle — kiting at speed, the arrow and accuracy trade-offs of firing while moving, and the Cavalry-tree abilities that make it work.

Mounted archery trades the foot archer's steadiness for mobility — a horse-archer kites at speed, harassing a line it never lets close. It leans on light armour, high DEX, and the Cavalry tree's mounted-archery branch.

Shooting from the saddle

  • Kite, don't joust. Your strength is shooting while you ride away from a threat that can't catch you — keep moving, keep the gap.
  • The reflex bow suits the saddle — its high fire rate and large quiver (see Archery) fit a harassing, fire-on-the-move style, and a full-power shot to a horse slows enemy cavalry.
  • Mind your ammo. The same quiver and regeneration rules apply, and they're shared with any throwing weapons you carry — mounted players can throw one-handers too.

The horse is half the build

A horse-archer is two builds at once. Pour into the Cavalry tree to bolster the mount's stamina and health so it can sustain the kiting — and remember all horses share the same top speed, so you win the chase with positioning and stamina, not raw pace. Plan the rider in the Build Maker and the mount via the Horse Spawn Map.

Mounted archery is a specialist's discipline — fragile, ammo-limited and hard to aim on the move — but in the right hands it pulls a line apart before the hammer falls. See Mounted Combat for the melee side of the saddle.
